Cinque Terre via scenic footpath, starting in its southernmost village

Learn as you hike – your guide will impart the fascinating history of Cinque Terre on the way up to Riomaggiore’s castle, built to defend against sea pirates in 1260. Continue alongside terraced hillside vineyards – the cascading grapes produce Riomaggiore’s fabled wines! Climb past Via dell’Amore (Lovers’ Lane) to Point Corniolo, from which you’ll look out over the crystalline waters of the Gulf of Genoa – this is the best way to experience the fabled coast! Carefully descend to a narrow pathway – carugio – that takes you out to a terrace above the sea. Finish in Manarola, strolling the main road and enjoying a leisurely tour of this lovely village.
