Sobre Aosta Valley

Mountainous and fertile, the semi-autonomous region of  Aosta Valley (Val d’Aosta) borders on France, Switzerland and Piedmont. Once part of the Kingdom of Savoy, its residents speak French as well as Italian. Val d’Aosta is famous for its food and wine. Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot, Petit Rouge, Cornalin, Prie Blanc – some of these varietals grow only here! Valdostan wines have been savored since the time of the Romans, and today are paired with a cornucopia of local cheeses, meats, honey and fruit. The Via Francigena, one of Europe’s primary pilgrimage routes, crosses here through alpine passes secured by ancient Rome. Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn are your spectacular backdrop. Discover Val d’Aosta!

Expand your horizons… Val d’Aosta borders on Piedmont and Lombardy. Combine it easily with Torino where you can see the mythic Shroud of Turin, in Piedmont, or Milan for a command performance at La Scala Opera House, in Lombardy.
