Trentino-Alto Adige

Sobre Trentino-Alto Adige

The most northerly region of Italy, Italian-speaking Trentino and German-speaking Alto Adige (Südtirol) are administratively semi-autonomous, a concession to protect linguistic minorities and keep the locals happy – Alto Adige was annexed to Italy after the defeat of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in WWI. The region features glorious mountains – the limestone spires of the Dolomites merge into the towering Alps. Come here for hiking, skiing, bike trails, rafting, hot springs, spectacular scenery, food and wine. History abounds – these south-facing valleys have witnessed human migration for millennia. In 1991, a 5000-year-old mummified man, Ötzi, was discovered in a melting glacier. Enjoy the region’s warm hospitality in wealthy towns and quaint riverside villages.

Expand your horizons… Trentino – Alto Adige borders on Austria, Lombardy and Veneto. It’s easy to add on Lombardy for da Vinci’s “Last Supper” and the elegant shops in Milan, or Veneto for a gondola ride and the Doge’s Palace in Venice. Bolzano is only a few hours by direct train to Verona and Bologna, opening a world of possibilities.

Note: All driving tours feature English-speaking drivers and are private unless otherwise mentioned. Tours are priced based on pick-up point and number of participants. All sightseeing tours are accompanied by expert local guides.
