Marche

Sobre Marche

Marche (pronounced Lay MAHR-kay) is in Italy’s center, with Tuscany and Umbria. It is the calf of the boot, on the Adriatic in the east and abutting the Apennines in the west. Mostly hilly and agricultural, Marche is a lightly developed destination that tempts travelers intent on bypassing mass tourism. Its long sandy beaches welcome Italians and foreigners alike, but additionally it offers charming upland cities like Urbino and Ascoli Piceno, once important centers in the Holy Roman Empire and the Papal States. Medieval and Renaissance art and architecture abound, as do wonderful foods and wines like Verdicchio, perfect ‘fuel’ for this exceptionally beautiful countryside.

Coming to Marche to hike, ski or stay at an agriturismo? Add on to your experience. The following tours are but a taste. Feel free to inquire as everything is customizable.

Expand your horizons… Marche borders on Emilia Romagna and San Marino in the north; Tuscany to the west and Umbria to the southwest; and Lazio and Abruzzo to the south. Combine Marche easily with a visit to Bologna and a Ferrari test drive in Emilia Romagna; with an exploration of the Etruscan hill town of Arezzo in Tuscany; and with chocolate tasting in Perugia, in Umbria.
