Brescia, Lombardy’s second-largest city, is like an architectural timeline. Your guide will show you Piazza del Foro, whose spectacular Roman ruins from the 1st century CE are the best preserved in Northern Italy. In Piazza del Duomo you’ll see two medieval cathedrals, Duomo Vecchio and Broletto Cathedral. Piazza della Loggia has marvelous Renaissance architecture including a 16th century astronomical clock. Hop forward to Piazza della Vittoria, a 1932 urban space built by the Fascist regime. Later, drive to a noted winery with 17th century cellars. A winemaker will teach you about sparkling Franciacorta wine, a rival of Prosecco, produced here since 1961. Taste three delicious wines.
