Naples is one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities. Remarkable traces of its past remain – ancient Greek, Roman, Kingdom of Naples, and Kingdom of the Two Sicilies (Naples was the capital). Visit landmarks including the Piazza del Plebiscito and the Bourbon kings Royal Palace (outside only). Stop for a traditional caffè napoletano, as much for the warmth of the locals as for the coffee, and top off the tour with a delicious Babbà (traditional Neapolitan sweet). Visit Basilica San Francesco di Paola, a 19th century church resembling the Pantheon. Continue to San Gennaro Cathedral, the multi-use Umberto I Gallery and stroll through Toledo and San Gregorio Armeno streets, window-shopping and admiring artisan workshops specializing in nativity scenes.
