Depart Rome’s Central Station at 14:50 for your two-hour train ride to Salerno, noted throughout Italy for its exceptional displays of overhead Christmas lights, strung between buildings on broad and narrow streets. Your English-speaking guide will walk you through this illuminated fantasy of floating angels, twinkling flowers and trees, skylines and Disney characters as elaborate as Captain Hook’s pirate ship. Interspersed with the oohs, aahs and the star-strewn sky will be anecdotes about Salerno, a visit to its Duomo, and sufficient free time to eat and return to the train station. Evening ends in Rome about 23:00.
