Sobre Umbria

Called Italy’s “green heart”, Umbria is the beautiful bridesmaid who pales beside the legendary Tuscan bride. But look again! Umbria’s appeal is precisely her beguiling reserve. Umbria is quiet lanes, patchwork farms, and ancient Etruscan hilltop towns. It is Roman ruins, castles, watchtowers, fortresses and churches that were a backdrop to saints – Francis in Assisi, Valentine in Terni, Benedict in Norcia and Ubold in Gubbio. This is sacred territory. Draped in significant history, it’s a paradise for photographers, with magnificent monuments like the Cathedral of Orvieto. With few tourists to block your view, enjoy the sweet ride, helped along by Perugian chocolate and delicious front-of-house wines.

Expand your horizons… Surprising Umbria, the center of the calf muscle in the Italian boot, borders on Tuscany to the west, Lazio to the south and Marche to the east. Combine it easily with the beautiful historical cities of Siena and Arezzo in Tuscany; with a tour of Rome and Tivoli in Lazio; or with an Adriatic beach stay or guided hiking tour in Marche.

Note: Driving tours are private unless otherwise mentioned, and are priced based on pick-up point and number of participants. All sightseeing tours are accompanied by expert local guides.
