By private vehicle, with our expert Driver, head northeast to Rieti, the ancestral land of the Sabines. Marvel at a more than 2000-year-old olive tree, l’Ulivone, the oldest in Europe. At an ancient quarry, you’ll see where beautiful white travertine was extracted by slave labor to build imperial Rome’s distinctive architectural marvels – and where giant slabs of travertine are still being extracted by modern processes.
